The reproduction of any part for an entire school or school system is strictly prohibited. Copying any part of our products and placing them on the Internet is strictly prohibited, including personal and classroom websites. Doing so is a violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). If you have any questions, email us at

4. What kinds of downloadable files do you sell?

The digital products that we currently sell include PDFs, zipped files (collections of PDF files), and Audio files.

5. Are the PDF files locked?

Yes, all of our regular eBooks are downloaded as locked PDFs. You can print locked files as well as import the files directly onto your Interactive White Board. Enhanced eBooks (see below) are not locked.

6. What is an enhanced eBook?

Enhanced eBooks are unlocked PDFs, which allow users to copy and paste text and certain images. Using Adobe® Reader®, you should be able to copy and paste sections of an enhanced eBook into a word processor like Microsoft Word or Apple Pages, then add your own questions, pictures, or examples for truly custom lessons. You can also use text from enhanced eBooks to build lessons for your Interactive Whiteboard or take advantage of programs that can translate the content of PDFs into other languages. In order to do this in Adobe® Reader®, change the cursor from the "Hand Tool" to the "Selection Tool" (which looks like an arrow or pointer), then highlight the text you wish to copy. Then, right-mouse click and choose copy. Then, open the word processor of your choice and select paste.

If you are using a paid version of Adobe Acrobat, you can also rotate and extract pages and copy certain images or objects. Due to the nature of PDF files, not all images can be copied; text formatting will also be lost. You can customize the text formatting by copying and pasting the text into a word processor and then add the desired formatting.

You will know that an eBook is enhanced because the title will say "(Enhanced eBook)," the image will have a red triangle in the bottom right corner that says "Enhanced," and the product description will say "Enhanced." If you are not interested in the benefits of an Enhanced eBook, all enhanced titles are also available as standard eBooks; just look for a link to the standard eBook under Related Products.

7. Will my eBooks work on my classroom's Interactive Whiteboard?

Yes! All of our eBooks come as PDFs, meaning that you can import the files directly onto your Interactive White Board (Smart Board/Promethean Board/StarBoard) using the board’s software.

7A. How can I use my eBooks with an Interactive Whiteboard?

Project your eBook in PDF onto the screen using your IWBs software, then use whichever tools you would like to use (highlighting, drawing, shading, etc.). You can then save the image of the page with your notes, and print it for a student to take home, or save a series of pages to e-mail to a student who is sick or absent.

7B. Can I use Enhanced eBooks on my Interactive Whiteboard?

Enhanced eBooks will project onto the display screen in the same manner as a regular eBook. However, you will be able to cut and paste text from Enhanced eBooks into your own Interactive White Board lessons, saving you prep time.

8. What is a Chapter Slice?

A Chapter Slice is a set of worksheets with a common theme pulled from a single eBook or multiple eBooks. Maybe you are only looking for a few activities on one specific topic or maybe you want to try a few pages from a digital title before buying the entire series, a chapter slice gives you an affordable solution to doing just that. Chapter slices always include an answer key if applicable to the activities.

9. Tell me more about audio.

Our Read-Along Audio encourages students to become apart of each story! Our high-quality audio reads stories word-for-word and often times includes sound effects, page turn sounds, and more. You can burn the audio files onto a CD for use with individual students or at your listening center. You can also burn each audio file onto a CD, then send the disc and corresponding story home with your students who need extra support and practice!

Audio files are intended for single classroom use only.

Please note when downloading audio that audio files are larger in size; they may take longer to download. Audio file types include "AIFF," "MP3," and "Waveform." These files will open with any standard audio player. The file format only dictates the file size.

10. How do you determine the reading levels for your products?

The Flesch-Kincaid Readability scale was used to ensure that our products are at the desired reading level.

Readability scales are useful as long as one realizes their limitations.  Results are approximate guidelines only, with a minimum margin of error of (+ or –) a grade level.  In other words, a story measured at a second-grade readability level could easily be suitable for both first and third graders. Another limitation is that two different readability scales can be applied to the same sample, yet yield widely varied results.  In spite of the inexact nature of readability scales, we at Remedia use them because they measure word and sentence length, both valid predictors of readability. They also help us provide vocabulary-controlled materials in order to meet the special education needs of many of our valued clients. At the same time, we realize that these scales are not designed to measure every other factor affecting readability, such as sentence structure or appeal to the reader.  We are also aware of the variance in standards and expectations set for each grade level.  What is first-grade material in one school may be second grade in another. At Remedia we strive to take all these factors into consideration as we develop and revise materials.  We leave the rest in your capable hands. Regarding readability, you—and your students—will be the final judge.
